With the 3rd Purchasing Initiative India set for 2026, BME is adding another dynamic growth market to its international sourcing program. From 17 August to 4 September 2026, German buyers will once again have the opportunity to connect with Indian suppliers through pre-arranged online B2B meetings. As an emerging procurement market, India offers unique opportunities and is a very attractive region for alternative and second-source procurement in times of supply shortages. On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), BME will collaborate with AHK India and the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV) to identify suitable suppliers and prepare them for the event through targeted briefing and training sessions.

The initiative focuses on product groups as metal construction, cast and forged parts, stamped and bent components, injection molding, plastic and electronic parts, welded assemblies, assembly services, production materials, and custom-engineered parts. This targeted approach enables German SMEs to gain efficient and qualified access to the Indian supplier market, supported as a project-based measure within the framework of the Market Development Program for SMEs.

While India’s vast supplier landscape is well known to many international firms, the country still offers considerable untapped potential. The market's wide geographic spread and fragmented structure pose challenges, but also open the door to new sourcing opportunities. In addition, Indian suppliers increasingly serve as a strategic de-risking alternative to China, thanks to their growing capacities and manufacturing capabilities.
