Explore the Portuguese Procurement Market with BME
Portugal's importance as a procurement market has constantly been increasing. More and more innovative products and services are being created, particularly in specialized areas. According to the European Commission, the economic output, which has doubled over the past 20 years to 211 billion euros, will grow by 5.5 percent in real terms in 2022. This would mean that Portugal has already exceeded the pre-crisis level.

Germany as the export market for Portugal
Germany is the third most important export market for Portugal. Motor vehicles and parts, as well as electrical engineering are the largest product groups. Nevertheless, machinery, measuring and control technology, precise parts made of metal, plastic or rubber, as well as mould and tool making, which specialises in plastic injection, also play an important role. 

Buyers’ view
According to Sebastian Freund, CEO at Easy2Parts, “Portugal is a good place to look for new sourcing opportunities, because of number of reasons: it is in the European Union, there are good flight connections, low wages and secure shipment by truck can be assured”. "Against the background of the high order volume, we want to expand our supplier network. South-western Europe is an exciting market in this regard, from which we expect a lot, especially for our production," confirms Felix Weidmann, Commodity Manager at TOMRA Sorting GmbH. Mr. Freund mentions also that there is “a demand for new suppliers in Portugal because of high order volume, diversification and lower costs in comparison to Germany”. Thomas Mack, Manager Sourcing Resales EMEA at Kennametal Shared Services GmbH, adds “Portugal has many well-educated companies, which deliver great service”. He also agrees that Portuguese suppliers offer competitive prices and given that Portugal is in Europe, the country’s localization is very strategical.

➁ Fill out and send the questionnaire to BME. Mark the events you are interested in.
➂ BME will inform you, when you get access to the profiles and when you can register for the events.

Prices for buyers

  • Registration for BME Matchmaking service: free of charge
  • Supplier List, which gives you access to supplier profiles for upcoming event in 2023: 395€*
  • 1 Year Flat Rate All Supplier Lists, which gives access to supplier profiles from all upcoming events in 2023: 995€ p.a.
    Subscription expires on: 31st of December of the current year**
  • Supplier Lists of past BME matchmaking events, with all details of supplier profiles, per list: 595€
  • B2B Booking Costs per company and B2B table (for all meetings): 300€

(*)BME charges 395€ for the supplier list for booking events, regardless of event participation. Exception: BME-Sourcing-Guarantee for BME members and companies which have the Flat Rate.

BME-Sourcing-Guarantee: if no suitable suppliers are found, no costs will be incurred. Necessary for this: short feedback, no further use of supplier data, in some cases feedback talks with partners.
