Following the great successes of the Purchasing initiative Southeast Asia in 2022 to 2024, which led to new business relationships between German buyers and Southeast Asian suppliers, the digital B2B event series will continue in 2025. The event, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), is a project-related measure within the framework of the market development program for SMEs and primarily targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany. Buying and supplying companies will meet in digital one-on-one meetings to discover new business opportunities between 16 June and 4 July 2025.

BME will once again provide German companies with demand-oriented access to exciting procurement markets in the region in cooperation with AHK partners from Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHKs) in Dortmund, Cologne, and Frankfurt, as well as the German Asia-Pacific Business Association(OAV)."In the last editions of the format, over 700 B2B meetings were held, and the feedback was very positive on both the buyer and supplier sides," explains Olaf Holzgrefe, Head of the BME International Department.

With the Southeast Asia initiative, we offer global players and SMEs easy access to exciting markets and product groups. The market opportunities are enormous, both for German companies already maintaining business relationships in the region and for purchasing companies seeking to explore procurement potentials for the first time.

In 2025, the B2B matchmaking meetings will focus primarily on the following product groups: metal construction, casting and forging parts, stamping and bending parts, injection molding, plastic and electronic components, welded assemblies, assembly, production materials, and engineered parts. Additionally, IT and engineering services will also be considered. The targeted focus on selected product groups enables German SMEs to gain qualified and efficient access to the local supplier market. The B2B event thus represents a valuable opportunity to find alternative sourcing options.

An information webinar for interested German purchasing companies will take place on 20 February 2025 from 10:00 until 11:30 (CET). Our AHK partner will shed light on the potential of the Southeast Asian procurement market and selected buying companies will share practical experiences. Please register here.

In the lead-up to the event, BME and the AHKs will not only identify qualified suppliers but also specifically support and prepare suitable Southeast Asian companies for the event through supplier seminars. Interested suppliers will receive direct information from German purchasing companies about specific needs, as well as requirements and processes.
